Whitespot and Velvet Treatments Whitespot and Velvet infections are amongst the most common of all aquarium fish diseases. The protazoans which cause the infections are especially attracted to fish which are stressed or newly introduced to an aquarium. These organisms are deadly if left untreated and few treatments are as effective as one might wish. Thankfully we stock the most effective whitespot treatment on the market today. Indeed, we use it ourselves on a professional basis and have done for 25 years.
Fin Rot Treatments Fin Rot is caused by bacteria which settle into damaged fin tissue and eat it away, leaving fishes fins appearing ragged and sometimes reddened with small haemorages. The infection can spread on to the fishes body if left untreated which is usually deadly. It's best therefore to treat promptly and expect to carry on the treatment for 7 -10 days as fin rot can clear up slowly.
Fungus Treatments All aquarium water contains fungal spores and when fish are injured or lose a scale, fungus spores may infect the wounded area and begin to grow, producing the furry areas so characteristic of the disease. Once fungus has gained a hold it will slowly spread, so swift treatment is an essential. Again, complete erradication can take a little while; make sure you have enough medication to last 10 days or so.
