Fluval U Series Internal Aquarium Filters When the first Fluval Internal filters landed on British shores in the early 1980’s they revolutionised the aquarium filter market. Compact, efficient and just plain great value the Fluval range redefined easy to use, affordable, quiet filtration for an entire generation of fish-keepers – Fluval filters have sold in their millions ever since. However, not satisfied with past successes, the Canadian parent company have ripped up the Fluval spec sheet and started again. The new U series Fluval filters are far in advance of any competing filter we have used and will without a doubt delight fish-keepers across the globe. The last few years have seen many fish-keepers move from internal filters to the very high value and great performance offered by modern canister filters such as the AquaOne CF and Advance range. Such filters are capable of accommodating a full range of filter media to treat aquarium water by filtering biologically and chemically as well as just removing solids. Uniquely the Fluval U series filters are also capable of this intensive level of filtration. The U2, U3 and U4 filters not only feature foam sheets but also activated carbon and polymer wool cartridges ( for chemical purification) and a generous portion of Fluval’s Biomax media (for biological filtration). Cleaning an internal filter can be messy, requiring removal from the aquarium in most cases. All Fluval U series filters have the special Flip Top system which allows filter cartridges to be removed while the filter it’s self continues to operate and does not require removal from your setup. Many internal filters create a decent current at the water’s surface. But how many are capable of more? The Fluval U series filters can create a great surface flow or, with the twist of a switch a good flow along the aquarium substrate, or, where strong current is not desirable (such as where baby fish are housed or delicate plants are cultured) a multi outlet water diffuser can be configured to provide gentle water movement. In Brief: The superb Fluval U Series filters work well in Tropical, Marine and Coldwater environments.. They are powerful and flexible while being discrete and easy to fit. Very intensive filtration is offered with all three media types (mechanical, chemical and biological) being included at no extra cost. The Flip Top makes U Series filters uniquely easy to maintain without removing the filter from the aquarium. Clean, fully filtered water can be returned to the main aquarium in a number of ways to suit any and all aquarium inhabitants.
